Mr. Morefield began his practice in 1986 with one of Kansas City's largest and most well respected firms. His civil litigation practice included a mix of personal injury, product liability, and complex business litigation matters. His primary clients were insurance companies, product manufacturers, financial institutions and major corporations. In 1993, Mr. Morefield and Mr. Bottaro left to form their own firm. The lawyers of Bottaro, Morefield & Kubin, L.C. represent the interests of businesses and individuals who have been injured or who have suffered financial loss due to the negligence or improper conduct of others. The firm also represents individuals and companies who have been sued by others.

Mr. Morefield's extensive experience defending the interests of insurance companies and major corporations and representing individuals and small businesses has provided him with the ability to quickly understand the thought processes and strategies of opposing counsel in litigation. This, in turn, allows for earlier assessment of the value of cases which is critical since most cases settle before trial.

Although most cases settle before trial, Mr. Morefield considers trial to be one of the most interesting and exciting aspects of the law practice. An experienced trial lawyer, Mr. Morefield prepares every case thoroughly as if it will go to trial.  This type of preparation is one of the common values shared by all of the attorneys at Bottaro, Morefield & Kubin, L.C. Mr. Morefield, Mr. Bottaro and Mr. Kubin have all been honored as Kansas and Missouri SuperLawyers for 2006. This honor is reserved for less than 5% of the practicing lawyers in the two state area.

Mr. Morefield is an active member of local, state and national bar associations.  He was elected to the Council of the American Bar Association's Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section in 2007. He is also the Editor in Chief of the ABA's quarterly legal magazine, "The Brief."  In 2004-2005, Mr. Morefield was President of the Lawyers Association of Kansas City and previously served as President of the Young Lawyers Section of that organization in 1994 and 1995.

Mr. Morefield uses technology wherever appropriate to enhance trial presentations and pretrial preparations. He has designed customized databases and computer aided presentations to improve his ability to achieve success for his clients. At the same time, he understands that in some cases, a low tech approach will have the greatest impact on a jury. Mr. Morefield is licensed in both Kansas and Missouri.
